Bourne Identity (2002)

Directed by Doug Liman

I absolutely love these movies (so far there are three, with a fourth slated to come out in 2012) because of several reasons. One, they are wonderfully made, well-acted, and the plot has enough movement that it is not all action. Two, the action is awesome. It is not one of those movies that has only gun-shooting action or sniper-style action, but good ole hand-to-hand wrestling/fist-fight. Three, Jason Bourne is a good man. He wakes up with his memory completely gone and through several circumstances discovers that he was a trained killer working for the CIA. Once he discovers this, he determines to leave that life behind and make a new one for himself, but in so doing must stop the CIA from trying to kill him. So he kills a few bad guys, and finds a girl that he falls in love with. One interesting aspect of this story that is different from most spy-action movies is that he does his best to not kill anyone. He kills the bad guys so that they stop hurting other people, but in the car chases, he makes sure to not run people over, and multiple times throws away a gun so that he will not be tempted to use it on harmless civilians.
Overall, a wonderful movie! Note: there is one scene that has sexual content, most of the movie has violence, and a couple bad words are said, but when compared to other movies, this is amazing.
P.S.-the sequels are amazing as well.
